Now that the digital pieces are out, I think it's time for the oil pieces to get some light too. I do work traditionally whenever I can to strengthen my painting and observation skills. It gets hard though when I'm so used to the convenience of digital painting. Just thought I would show these, since I keep saying how working traditionally helps so much.
This little still life is reminiscent of a Chardin with the careful treatment of lights and darks. The well placed bursts of colors lead the eye around the dark background of the entire picture and the composition is brilliant at keeping the eye inside the picture instead of leading it out. This piece is very well put together and executed, an inspiration!
I'm mainly a traditional artist, allthough i'm saving up for a tablet and use PS as medium frequently. This is very cool! The technique is actually kind of different than what I usually see in still life paintings. I have thought still life was boring until a couple of weeks ago (while reading art books) Loving that low level of detail on the middle orange(?) slice, gives just enough room for imagination, at the same time as it underlines the texture and slight tranceparecy.
