This picture reminds me of the faerie tale Allerleirauh. In the story a daughter must marry her father all because of a decree that states whomever the dead queen's ring fits must marry the king. The daughter flees hidden beneath a mantle of fearthers and fur. In some stories it's a magical spell of birds that shelter her from the world so that she can hide from her father. There's more to the story involving three dresses but you get it.
